How Cold Laser Therapy Works

Cold lasers use focused light to stimulate the tissue at and below the surface of your pet’s skin. The biochemical effect of the light promotes cellular energy and regeneration providing tissue repair, better circulation and pain relief.

Laser therapy is considered both safe and effective across the veterinary industry, and can be effective in treating diseases, injuries and conditions in pets including musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries (sprains and strains) and arthritis. It is is often recommended in combination with other treatment options to provide the best outcome.

The Procedure

Before treatment begins, your pet will be given a full physical exam, along with x-rays if needed. In a typical treatment session, the laser wand is applied to the area to be treated. It can last as little as 5 minutes, or as long as 20 minutes.

Because cold laser therapy has a cumulative effect, treatments should be done at the frequency recommended by your veterinarian for the best results.
